Firms Flying the Kosher Flag in France

Companies in France are providing a tremendously varied array of kosher certified products to food processing firms and direct to the public worldwide. Here are five of these companies making KLBD kosher certified products.

Sugar, alcohol, and ethanol are the main outputs of the Cristal Union Group, which is a cooperative representing around 40% of sugar beet production in France. The Cristal Union Group has invested more than 300m Euros to upgrade its facilities in north­ central France. These include a distillery in Arcis sur Aube, and a production unit called Cristanol for alcohol and ethanol located in Bazancourt. The Cristal Union group is the fifth largest sugar producer in Europe, the second largest in France and in the industrial market has the top position as the number one industrial sugar producer in France.


An established world leader in the organic flavours market, Aromatech has a portfolio of more than five hundred certified sweet and savoury organic flavors made at six operational centres. The organic flavors developed by Aromatech enable producers of organic goods to state the organic origin of flavors on the labeling of their finished products, for example ‘Natural lemon flavor from organic farming’. Such applications include dairy products, biscuits, pastry, confectionery, and health foods, along with alcoholic and non-­alcoholic drinks.
